Classroom :

We encourage participation/ questions however please don’t interupt the instructor or carry on side conversation in the classroom or in any of the

in-water portions of the class. All cell phones are to be stowed away during class.

 

 

Rules in and around the class and pool:

  1. At the end of class clean and put all gear to its approved location.

  2. No spitting , blowing nose or urinating in the pool. It is prohibited and you will be asked to leave.

  3. Please arrive early and place your gear next to the pool. If the class start at 0900 am then you should be on location at 0845 am.

  4. We dont allow smoking/vaping at the dive center or the property

  5. Do not consume alcohol 8 hours prior to class

  6. Do not invite friends to watch class or swim.

  7. All scuba tanks to be on their sides unless your setting them up with gear.

  8. Please leave your pets at home.

  9. You may eat during class in preperation for In-water in the designated eating area

 

In-water training:

This is a partularly exciting part of the class but we need all attention on the instructor and to only perform in-water tasks after it has been explained, demonstrated and you are asked by the instructor to perform the skill. You attention is 100% on the instructor.

 

Missed Class:

Time is limited and if you miss classes and it comes to a point where you need one on one training outside of class a fee of $55.00 per hour will be charged. Please make all your classes—-family emergencies and exigent circumstances (like a birth or a death) will be forgiven and time can be made up at a later date—-you will not graduate with your class. If you become ill you will be in the next available class as long as you are cleared by a doctor and have a doctors note saying you can attend.

Jeff Asher- He has over 50 years of diving in the San Juans and around the world-warm water,extreme cold water (ice) and cave diving

He supervised dive operations for dive rescue and recovery for San Juan County Sheriffs office for 20 years and operated the Sheriff’s boat as a licensed Coast Guard approved Captain.

He is a Graduate of the accredited NOAA dive academy in Seattle Washington and has taken many other advanced dive classes and workshops

Jeff worked with U.S. Customs and Border Protection with their diving operations including but not limited to smuggling operations.

He supervised dive operations on various movies for IMAX and Disney

He worked as EMT with San Juan County EMS and conducted several dive rescue operations for training with EMS.

Currently Jeff is a supervisor for Executive protection located in the Bay Area.

 

Cheyenne Asher aka: Chey pronounced “shy”🤣which she is not.

Chey has worked as a Commercial diver with Jen Jay diving, is NAUI dive Master certified and has been diving all around the globe, including the San Juan Islands.

Chey has worked as EMT with San Juan Island EMS and a volunteer firefighter (Lieutenant) with the Town of Friday Harbor and is extremely well versed in medicine. She also was a dispatcher at the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

Chey is one of the most calm persons you will ever be with in the water. Her ability to communicate diving skills are superior. She did a good percentage of her dive training in British Columbia and the San Juan Islands

Chey currently works as a police officer for the SanJose Police department.

She is also trained to run the dive boat and various other marine operations.

 

 

Capt. Kurt Schwalbe: 

aka: Capt Kurt ⚓️

 

Kurt is a commercial diver that started his career in the Bay Area in the late 70’s. He has his own business in the Marine Industry and has been a Captain for 40+ years- he knows the waters of the San Juans like the back of his hand. Kurt has been a NAUI instructor for many years and has grown with it as dive education has evolved over the years. Kurt was on the Sheriffs Dive Rescue and Recovery team for 20 years and has worked as a diver in the movie industry. Kurt also runs the Yacht Haven fill station and fills student tanks along with manning the dive shop.

 He has a unique talent for rope splicing on commercial dive operations.  His dive table presentation is amazing and the best you will see
